Assess Your Situation
Take a couple looks around to see if you are in immediate danger. If you are. Find the closest and safest place to you. After your no longer in danger, take time to find out as much information as you can. This can be done by looking around, watch the news or listening to the radio. Try to find out how close you are to the effective area. Try to find out the road conditions. Like if the highways are in grid lock. Just get as much info as you can. At this point your eyes and ears are you best tools.
Assess Your Supplies
For some of use this is the time to grab your bug out bag. For those who don’t have bag pre- packed you need to see what is around you. Try to find a backpack or bag to put stuff in. Look for some bottle or fill some containers with water. Try to pull together some food. Like canned or boxed premade things. Then see if you can find anything you can use as a weapon. Long range weapons like shotguns are ideal as you don't want to get too close. Baseball bats and machetes are good too .Even a small knife, broom handle or long branch will do. Metal garbage can lids are ideal to use as shields. If you can find bottles of alcohol, rags and a lighter, which should be pretty easy to find in any normal household, you’ve got the means to create molotov cocktail. As you make your exit to a safe place you can always and should be look for additional supplies .
When and Where To Go
What’s is everyone else going to do? They're packing up and heading for the highways. This will end up being a buffet line for zombie, as traffic will most likely, be backed-up and become non-moving. If you have enough supplies, stay close to your home, barricade yourself in. Stay tuned to the news for information. You will not be able you stay there for very long. Maybe a couple days. When things have died down a little, grab your shit and make your way to the hills. Try to find a sparsely populated location. If there are fewer humans to bite in the area, zombies will be created at a slower rate. This mean less contact, with them, betters your chances.
Transportation
Walking is your best bet, but driving can get you farther. Driving requires gas, when you have an empty tank, you're screwed. So if you take this route, try to find extra gas to bring along. Vehicles make a lot of noise that can attract zombies. Try to find the biggest means of transportation possible, something with 4-wheel drive in case you get stuck. Try to find lifted trucks, vans, army trucks, tanks—anything big, strong and without a lot of windows. Also, if there more than one of you, using more than one vehicle is smart. There’s room for more people, and if one breaks down, you have the other to rely on.
Coming Into Contact With The Infected
When you come in contact with ANY one that is infected DON’T Hesitate. Kill them. Even if it’s someone you know. It’s going to be hard, especially if it's someone you love. That are not going to spare you. There is no cure, there is no saving grace, it's either kill or be killed. Try aim for their head. Stay as far away from their mouths as possible. Try to avoid them if possible.
All I can tell you is, this is what I would do if I found dealing with zombies unprepared. I know its sounds easy but it will not be. Any situation where you have to protect yourself just to survive will be hard. We have never encounter a situation like this. Things could always be a bit different. The biggest thing is to be, very aware of your surrounding. Be as resourceful you can. Don’t give up. The harder you fight the better off you will be. Also it never hurts to be prepared. Being prepared with water, food and supplies ahead of time for any situation could be a life changer.
